This week’s solo piece is a throwback to the sound of air conditioners struggling to cool the sultry August air. This tune was recorded during an especially luminous golden hour.
After weeks of relentless dry sun, grey skies and moisture have returned. I forgot how bone-chilling a wet Texas winter can be. It feels silly to be nostalgic for the stifling heat, but here I am. I spent much of the day out in the current cold conditions attending the Wizard Rodeo music happening. So many great acts (more on this below), and even though I only knew one or two people, it felt like everyone there was a dear friend.
Inspired by the warmth of that magical gathering, I offer this little ditty from the porch.

I saw the Styrofoam Winos perform at the Wizard Rodeo, an annual event usually held on a baseball field. Due to the inclement weather, the event moved to the next best thing, Sam’s Town Point. All the featured acts are worth listening to, but I particularly liked this trio from Nashville. They all took turns playing each other’s instruments, yet created a consistent sound that played out like a mash-up of Louvin Brother blood harmonies and Sam Prekop's coolness garnished with Tennessee twang and tinted by country blues.
Enjoy!
